Big Sky EDA - Economic Pulse Interactive

Keeping a 500-mile perspective

Regional benchmarking and scorecard reports are a growing trend among economic development organizations. A well curated collection of data indicators is a powerful tool of persuasion and a means to communicate how you're moving the needle.

The typical report we see is a slide deck or PDF, backed up by a meticulously maintained Excel sheet of data. It's a lot of work, but well worth the effort.

Big Sky Economic Development, based in Billings, MT, has been publishing was it calls the Economic Pulse Report for a number of years. The report features data on 9 peer metros in the west across numerous data vectors, including:

  1. Population
  2. GDP
  3. Total Personal Income
  4. In-migration by age
  5. Educational attainment
  6. Talen migration
  7. Employment by age group
  8. Unemployment
  9. Employment to population ratio
  10. Annual change in establishments
  11. ...and a lot more!

Beginning in 2020, Big Sky EDA started partnering with eIMPACT to product Economic Pulse - Interactive – the same report done in an interactive format, embedded on their website. Check out the interactive report below!
